Jeep’s Indian-built second-generation Compass small SUV touched down in Australia in February 2018 with heavy expectations from the American brand, with the new model tipped to be the second-best seller behind the Grand Cherokee large SUV.
The new Compass picked up styling cues similar to its best-selling big brother, and was offered in four different specification levels including the off-road-focused Trailhawk.
Two engines were offered at launch, including the 2.4-litre aspirated petrol Tigershark four-cylinder, and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit on the higher-spec Limited and range-topping Trailhawk.
The Compass was the first vehicle from the American off-road specialist sold in Australia to be built out of its new facility in Ranjangaon, India.
