THE biggest alloy wheels yet fitted to a Camry (forged, painted black and shod with sticky 225/45R18 Bridgestone Turanza tyres), a faster steering rack, uprated dampers and a chunkier front anti-roll bar with fancy bushes and links.
If Toyota Australia wanted a fitting swansong before the factory closes in 2017, this must surely be it. Someone within that juggernaut of a corporation, who loves cars, did their level best to sex up a Camry.
Is this a never-to-be-repeated opportunity? It is hard to imagine the imported next-generation sedan offering such a variant. But we can live in hope.
The real question is, how successful is the transformation? We lived with an example for a week to find out.
