TOYOTA Australia has put some motorsport and marketing heat on its TRD Aurion sedan, creating a Pro-Factory Xtreme drag-racing version for last weekend’s Australian National Drag Racing Association Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland.

Like V8 Supercars, the Aurion Pro-FX has little in common with the Australian-built showroom car – it has a Toyota 3.25-litre 2JZ-GTE turbocharged six-cylinder engine that produces 1300kW (to the rear wheels).

It can rocket from 0-100km/h in less than one second and has a top speed of more than 350km/h.

Piloted by former Australian Pro Stock champion Tony Wedlock, the Aurion dragster is understood to be a rebodied version of the Camry Solara drag car shown at this year’s Melbourne motor show.
