GWM has capped off 2025 with its strongest year on record, delivering 52,809 new vehicle sales, a significant  23.4 per cent increase year-on-year.

The Chinese importer says the result solidifies its position as Australia’s seventh most popular vehicle brand, demonstrating its “growing resonance” with local buyers.

GWM says its success in the outgoing calendar year was driven by strong demand across its diverse portfolio, with several models delivering their best-ever annual sales results.

The Haval Jolion led the charge with 19,413 unit sales, representing 36.3 per cent year-on-year growth. The GWM Cannon range also hit new heights in 2025 with 12,412 sales recorded, representing a 34.1 per cent increase over the previous year.

Cannon Alpha recorded 2524 units, up 38.8 per cent, with GWM noting an “increasing shift” towards new energy drivelines it says now “dominate the sales mix”.

Rounding out GWM’s best sellers list for 2025 was the recently updated Haval H6, which recorded 13,217 sales for a YOY increase of 6.5 per cent, and the Tank 300, which “surged” 46.7 per cent to a total of 5025 units.

“This record result validates everything we’ve been building toward,” said GWM Australia chief operating officer John Kett.

“To achieve a 20 per cent plus growth while the overall market contracted shows that Australian customers are responding to our combination of advanced technology, genuine value, and improving customer experience.

“But what excites me most is the foundation we’ve established with our expanded dealer network, and stronger aftersales capabilities, demonstrating that we’re not just selling vehicles, we’re building a sustainable, customer-focused automotive brand.

“With seven new model launches in 2025 and our growing presence in new energy vehicles, we’re positioned well for an even greater 2026.

“The nearly 53,000 new customers who chose GWM last year have our commitment that we’ll continue raising the bar in 2026 and beyond and we thank them, our dealer network and staff for this amazing result.

Mr Kett said that as GWM enters 2026, it does so with “clear momentum and a well-defined roadmap for sustained growth”.

He said that strategic investments throughout 2025 have established a robust foundation from which to position GWM “not merely as a value alternative but as a credible mainstream choice for Australian families”.

This year, GWM plans to launch at least seven new models it says will deliver “enhanced performance, capability, and efficiency”, further cementing its place as a “permanent top-tier player in Australia’s automotive landscape”.
