LEXUS has marked a double occasion in January, marking its 200,000th cumulative Australian sale while at the same time achieving a record electrified sales share of 76.5 per cent – an increase of 2.2 per cent on the same time last year.

The brand’s popular mid-sized NX SUV was its best seller again in 2025, marking 11 consecutive years in prime position and accounting for 41.4 per cent of all Lexus model sales.

In keeping with Lexus’ electrified sales trend, NX buyers favoured hybrid and plug-in hybrid models to the tune of 83.2 per cent.

The larger RX SUV was the second most popular Lexus model in 2025 with 2126 deliveries, and an 84.4 per cent electrified sales share.

Lexus sold a total of 14,561 new vehicles in 2025, 6.7 per cent more than in 2024. The Japanese luxury importer now holds a 1.2 per cent share of the total Australian market, up 0.1 per cent on the same time last year.

By way of comparison, Lexus’ competitor Audi sold 16,014 units across the 2025 calendar year (1.3 market share points), BMW 26,842 units (2.2 per cent), Genesis 1602 units (0.1 per cent), Jaguar 520 units (0.0 per cent), Land Rover 8339 units (0.7 per cent), Mercedes-Benz 22,850 (1.9 per cent), and Volvo 7239 units (0.6 per cent).

“With 35 years of presence and more than 200,000 cumulative sales, 2025 was a remarkable year for Lexus in Australia,” said Lexus Australia chief executive Jack Hobbs.

“As a leader in luxury hybrid technology, it’s fantastic to see our electrified sales share now accounting for 76.5 per cent of all Lexus sales.

“The availability of BEV, PHEV, HEV and ICE technology is the embodiment of our multi-pathway approach – the luxury of choice.

“As we turn to the new year, 2026 is set to be another exciting year for Lexus with the introduction of two exciting new vehicles; the new-generation ES luxury sedan and the new RZ range.

“The all-new ES will introduce next-generation Lexus battery-electric powertrain technology along with an elevated level of occupant luxury. The spacious cabin is crafted around its occupants, together with advanced technologies to enrich the human connection.

“In addition, the highly anticipated new Lexus RZ BEV range is set to launch in the first half of the year with technological innovations and new levels of performance.

“The line-up will be headlined by the F Sport – a first for RZ – and feature the innovative steer-by-wire and Interactive Manual Drive with virtual manual gear-shifting.

“Through the collective efforts of our team, dealers, suppliers and customers, 2025 was a fantastic year for Lexus in Australia and 2026 is set to build on that momentum.
