Melbourne show: VOLKSWAGEN

Love, love me do: The New Beetle is expected to draw maximum crowds.

Cash registers are singing as Beetles pour out of showrooms. But new Polo and Passat models don't make it to the show

1 Mar 2000

VOLKSWAGEN will show a band of fab four Beetles at the Melbourne show led by a pair of fully body-kitted models.

One has the full range of approved VW accessories while the other is said to be an eye-catcher.

The standard range of extras includes lowered suspension, rear bootlid-mounted spoiler and larger 17-inch alloy wheels.

The New Beetle RSi, which uses a turbocharged engine, will not go on sale in Australia until December this year.

Another new car on the VW stand is the Bora Bora, complete with large decals emblazoned on its side.

VW will launch the V6 four-wheel drive 4-Motion Bora in Australia at the end of the year priced about $60,000.
