Jaguar XFApr 2008

Jaguar XF

Jaguar started with a completely fresh sheet of paper to design the XF – the long-awaited replacement for the largely unloved nine year-old S-Type, which never really lived up to expectations for the British company. In terms of style, the coupe-like XF is the first clean-sheet Jaguar sedan to be created by acclaimed stylist Ian Callum, a man whose special passion for the British marque is even more famous than his previous work with TWR and Aston Martin.Unlike the S-Type and also the X-Type, the bold XF does not hark back to past glories and looks entirely contemporary and distinctive from its German and Japanese rivals, though with a grille that immediately defines it as a Jaguar.Inside, the XF blends modern materials and technical features – including the innovative JaguarDrive transmission selector for the first time in a saloon – with a taste of classic British formality. The push-button JaguarDrive control is used to select gears with the standard six-speed semi-automatic transmission, as used in the XK. No regular manual gearbox is offered.Jaguar Australia launched the XF with a choice of four engines – a 152kW/435Nm 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel ($105,500), a 175kW/293Nm 3.0-litre V6 petrol (also $105,500), a 219kW/411Nm 4.2-litre V8 petrol ($130,500) and a 306kW/560Nm 4.2-litre supercharged V8 ($166,700).The XF rides on a 2909mm wheelbase, is 4961mm long, 1877mm wide and 1460mm high – making it bigger than the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-class, Audi A6 and Lexus GS.

LX570 (Mk2)Apr 2008

LX570 (Mk2)

ON SALE in Australia from April 10, when it became only the second generation of the most capable Lexus off-roader ever, the all-new LX570 is based on parent company's Toyota's redesigned 200 Series LandCruiser.Bringing more technology, refinement, safety and performance, as well as being bigger and more expensive, the new 2.75-tonne LX is powered by a new 270kW/530Nm 5.7-litre alloy V8, matched with the LandCruiser's new six-speed automatic transmission - easily eclipsing the relatively paltry 170kW and 410Nm outputs of the previous LX470's cast-iron 4.7-litre V8.The 90-degree 32-valve V8 is the largest-displacement engine ever fitted to a Lexus, returns claimed average fuel consumption of 14.8 litres/100km (an eight per cent improvement on the LX470's16.1L/100km) and hauls the 2740kg LX to 100km/h in a claimed 7.8 seconds – making it significantly quicker than the LX470's 12.0s.The new LX improves the LandCruiser 200's new double-wishbone front, live-axle rear all-coil suspension by offering new four-wheel hydro-pneumatic technology with improved Adaptive Variable Suspension(AVS) three-mode damping adjustment and Active Height Control (AHC) spring-control systems as standard, along with the ground-breaking Crawl Control off-road cruise control system fitted as standard to petrol 200s. Ground clearance is a generous 225mm.As well as electronic stability control and multi-terrain ABS, the LX offers the same 10-airbag safety protection that's offered in the LandCruiser from the mid-range VX grade upwards (up from six in the LX470), including twin full-length side curtain airbags.

GoAuto Search Words

Search will attempt to find all articles within the system that contain any or all words you are looking for.

You can include words like "and" + "or" for boolean style searching. Some search examples as follows:

  • "Ford v8" - Results will contain the text as it appears in the search "Ford v8".
  • "Ford and v8" - Results will have both "Ford" and "v8" within its contents but may not be sequential as per previous example.
  • "Ford or Holden and v8" - Results found will contain "v8" and also contain either "Ford" or "Holden".

You may also use wildcards represented by an asterisks. For example:
