Viano

BASED on the Vito van, the single-model Viano luxury MPV came standard with seven seats but was available with eight as an option.

A facelift, tail-end tidy and interior revamp and the inclusion of a new V6 diesel producing 165kW and 440Nm – enabling it to dash from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds – increased the appeal of the executive shuttle when it landed in Australia during March 2011.

In addition to new front-end styling featuring LED daytime running lights, new-look 17-inch rims, the Viano’s tail-lights were redesigned to differentiate it from the Vito van.

Electrically operated sliding doors on both sides plus front and rear sunroofs were standard, as was a large information screen on the centre of the dashboard.

The seats, other than those of the driver and front passenger, were attached to rails, enabling them to be arranged in a variety of configurations. They can all face forward, backwards, face each other or be removed completely.

Rated by ANCAP as a five-star vehicle, the Viano came with ESC and six airbags, including front, side and curtain airbags for the driver and front passenger – though curtain airbags did not extend into the second or third row of seats.

Options included metallic paint, 18-inch alloy wheels, the aforementioned eight-seats and a ‘Vision’ package including a reversing camera, electrically adjustable heated front seats with electric lumbar support for the driver, and a six-stack DVD changer for the information display.
