Mercedes recalls Sprinter over seatbelt bolts

MERCEDES-BENZ Australia has recalled some of its Sprinter work vans to check the front seatbelt anchor bolts that might have been incorrectly tightened at the factory.

The company says the bolts holding the belts to the B pillar and seat base may have received an incorrect torque setting, potentially affecting seatbelt operation in a crash.

In Australia, the recall affects 107 vans produced from August 2009 to March 2010, with vehicle identification (VIN) numbers in the following range: WDF906xxx 2F 027460-WDF906xxx 2F 029076.

Owners should contact their Mercedes-Benz dealer to have the bolts checked.

Meanwhile, SsangYong importer Sime Darby has recalled 33 Actyon Sport dual-cab utes to fix rear reflectors that might not meet manufacturing standards, potentially proving hazardous for following vehicles at night.

Owners of the vehicles made between February 2009 and December 2009 should make an appointment with their SsangYong service department to have the reflectors replaced.
