THE world's first Audi retail 'terminal' has been officially opened on the corner of Parramatta and Great North Roads, the third busiest intersection in Australia.
Audi says its newest dealership, the $12 million Audi Five Dock facility, cements Australia's reputation as a strategically important growth market for the ambitious German luxury brand.
Construction of the imposing Infinity Group-developed building at 1 Parramatta Road began in March 2007 and the now-completed dealership is claimed to herald "the brand's visionary architectural concept for high-density locations".
Owned and operated by Sydney businessman Ian Pagent and his business partners, son Nick Pagent and Dwyer Ogle, Audi Five Dock is a demonstration of the investment undertaken by the rapidly growing brand's national dealer network, according to Audi Australia managing director, Joerg Hofmann.
"Audi is a growing brand in Australia, with several record years of salesgrowth already proven," he said. "Investing in the brand’s public face is an important step in continuing to raise the image and awareness of the brand as a key player in the luxury market in Australia.
"Ian Pagent and his team are our strong partners in the Sydney market withthree Audi dealerships in their portfolio. The opening of Audi Five Dock issignificant as it points to the confidence of the dealer network in the brand."Mr Pagent said the 2000 square-metre Five Dock facility, which Audi says will be the first of many new developments, was the culmination of a vision.
"It is a clear demonstration of our passion for the brand and our belief in itsfuture in Australia," he said.
Mr Hofmann said that the expansion of Audi's model portfolio from 25 to 40 models by 2015 would be preceded by the renovation or rebuilding of Audi Australia's entire dealer network to accommodate it.
