Tribeca future uncertain

SUBARU Australia managing director Nick Senior has revealed that parent company Fuji Heavy Industries has yet to sign-off on a replacement for the current B9-series Tribeca mid-sized SUV.

Asked whether Subaru has committed to a next-generation Tribeca, Mr Senior’s response was “not yet.” Speaking to media in Melbourne yesterday, Mr Senior said Subaru might even offer two seven-seater models in its line-up, should the newly-unveiled Exiga people-mover from Japan be given the go-ahead for an Australian release at the end of 2008.

“Since we introduced the new-model Tribeca (as the heavily facelifted Series II in late 2007), we have been averaging around 100 per month, sometimes a little bit more (the previous model could only manage around 50).

“And they (Tribeca and Exiga) appeal to very different demographics and very different segmentations.

“So they can quite easily sit compatibly in Subaru’s line-up,” he added.
