FRENCH car-maker Citroen has teamed up with iconic Australian surf brand Rip Curl to create 15 special-edition C4 Cactuses designed to appeal to outdoor activity lovers.
Priced at $28,790 before on-roads, the Rip Curl Citroen gets beach-and-snow-friendly Grip Control traction control system, Goodyear mud and snow tyres, silver bumper guards on the front and rear, white rear-view mirror shells and white roof rails.
The exterior is adorned with Rip Curl graphics on the front mudguards and C-pillars. Inside, orange is the theme, with orange seat belts, orange speaker surrounds and orange stitching on the Rip Curl-branded floor mats.
Power will be supplied by a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine teamed to a five-speed manual transmission.
It will be offered in a new Baltic Blue paint colour, as well as black, red, olive brown and a pearlescent white that comes with a $200 premium.
The new variant be previewed at the Rip Curl GromSearch event this weekend in Maroubra Beach, Sydney. The event is one of a national series that pits the best young surfers across Australia.
Citroen Australia national marketing manager Dimitri Andreatidis said Citroen and Rip Curl made a great pairing.
“Both Citroen and Rip Curl are renowned for their fun and lifestyle-orientated products,” he said. “The partnership is an ideal fit for the two brands.
“The alliance also brings together these iconic Australian and French brands in a fun way, while the added tech gives the Cactus greater abilities off the beaten track.”The Cactus has made only a modest sales impression since launching in February, selling 154 models to the end of August.
