Extra seat for Subaru Exiga people-mover

The second row of the high-roofed wagon will now be a three-seat bench instead of only two, and will also be fitted with three sets of child-seat anchor points.
Other minor updates to the Liberty Exiga for 2013 include a revised door mirror design and new 17-inch wheel patterns on the top-spec variant.
Subaru Australia managing director Nick Senior said the changes to the interior will make the Exiga more appealing to potential buyers.
“Liberty Exiga will now appeal to even more families that need the option of a seventh seat, in addition to the significant cargo volume it offers for load carrying, with the seats down in a variety of combinations,” he said.
Subaru Australia has not altered the price, maintaining its 2012 sticker of $37,990 (plus on-road costs) for the 2.5i and $42,490 for the up-spec 2.5i Premium model.
Subaru had previously decided not to import the Japanese seven-seat version of the people-mover as the middle seat of the second row was only fitted with a lap seatbelt.
The version going on sale in Australia this month will instead be fitted with a safer lap-sash seatbelt.
Subaru Australia corporate affairs manager David Rowley told GoAuto in April that the company wanted to wait for the version fitted with the lap-sash seatbelt as it did not want to compromise the five-star safety rating achieved across its entire range.
An update to the Liberty Exiga range in January saw a number of features added to the entry-level 2.5i, including a reversing camera, voice command and steering wheel controls for Bluetooth, while the 2.5i and 2.5i Premium both gained automatic headlights.
