Lamborghini Accademia coming to Australia

LAMBORGHINI’S Squadra Corse driving program is coming Down Under, with the iconic Italian brand’s Accademia and Esperienza courses available for hardcore raging bull fans at Phillip Island from next year.

The car-maker is offering its range of track and ice driving courses in other parts of the world including Italy and the United States, but this is the first time the driving experiences have been offered to Lamborghini aficionados in Australia.

Less experienced drivers can get their first taste of fast track driving with the Accademia course, which puts about 20 participants into a fleet of Lamborghinis that includes the Aventador LP 700-4, Huracan LP610-4 Spyder and Coupe, as well as the freshly unveiled Huracan LP 580-2.

Above the introductory option, drivers wanting to get closer to the sensation of competitive driving can opt for the Esperienza course, which intensifies the driver training with exercises that simulate circuit racing.

Each Accademia course is available in either intensive or advanced levels and involves multiple training sessions during which drivers undertake various exercises including slaloms, acceleration, braking and oversteering.

The team of professional drivers and instructors deliver a “personalised” program but select drivers from the Young Drivers and GT3 Junior Program, who will participate as instructors at the Esperienza and Accademia events as well, will join them.

Lamborghini is predicting a good uptake of the global series of courses, with more than 2000 customers expected to participate over the year.

Australian dates and pricing are yet to be announced, but more information and details will be released early next year.

For customers with a bigger budget, Lamborghini offers a Winter Accademia ice driving program in Livigno in Italy, while the legendary Laguna Seca track in northern California hosts the US program along with the most advanced Pilota course in Las Vegas.

German, Spanish and Asian locations will also be offered Squadra Corse programs, following some stages of the Blancpain Super Trofeo one-make racing series, with more than 20 events planned for 2016.

In Australia, wannabe racers already have several brands to choose from for track day experiences, such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche and Audi, which use a selection of race-tracks around the country, including Phillip Island, Sydney Motorsport Park and Queensland Raceway.

The German car manufacturers also offer seasonal snow and ice driving packages in New Zealand as well as in Victoria’s highlands.
