No-cost upgrade for Peugeot 207 cabriolet

PEUGEOT has added more equipment and made cosmetic tweaks to its 207 CC in a bid to keep the folding steel hardtop cabriolet fresh as it enters its sixth year on sale.

The French marque has axed the turbocharged flagship model from the line-up, leaving the 88kW/160Nm naturally aspirated 1.6-litre mill as the sole engine choice.

Model year 2012 versions come with leather seats as standard, as well as Bluetooth phone and USB connectivity, new 16-inch alloy wheels and a tweaked version of the brand’s ‘Lion’ badging.

The cabin also picks up some cosmetic changes, including new black dials, a black roof lining and revised dash trim accents.

Prices are unchanged at $33,490 for the five-speed manual model and $35,490 with the four-speed automatic.

Standard features on the 207 CC include cruise control with speed limiter, dual-zone climate-control, four airbags, emergency brake assist and hazard lights that automatically activate under heavy braking.

Australia’s other Lion-badged brand sold 264 examples of the 207 CC last year, outselling its 308 CC big brother (178 units) and securing a 3.2 per cent share of the segment for sports cars under $80,000.

Peugeot Australia will debut its all-new 208 light-sized hatch at the Sydney motor show in October this year following the commencement of overseas sales in the next few months.

The brand has not yet revealed information on the CC version of the new car, however, so the fate of the 207 CC in Australia beyond this year remains unclear.
