HSV GTS gets 507kW Walkinshaw upgrade

The GTS was never short on grunt with its 6.2-litre V8 supercharged LSA engine making 430kW and 740Nm, but since the performance car was launched in 2013 Walkinshaw has been working on a way to make a good thing better.
Now just in time for Christmas the tuning house has announced the arrival of its W507 Package which ups power to 507kW at 6200rpm and torque to 850Nm at 4400rpm.
Suitable for the 2013 GTS sedan and 2015 GTS Maloo ute, the package costs $7990, supplied and fitted.
The package is the result of extensive development, with previous products unable to be used on the new LSA-powered HSV.
Numerous combinations of headers, exhaust and cat back set-ups were tested, a revised cold air-intake was built, an upgraded pulley system was devised and the ECU was calibrated.
Walkinshaw Performance general manager Tony Harris said the company’s mission is always to exceed customer expectations.
“This is the best engineered package we have ever produced,” he said.
“It feels incredibly powerful, even more than the 507kW indicated, and that is due to how each component in the package has been designed to complement each other.
“As with everything we do the key objective is to engineer a package that exceeds our customer expectations without compromising the vehicle driveability.
“Every single component that makes up this package is unique in its design and the pulley is actually manufactured in the Walkinshaw Racing production facility.”The W507 Package includes a pulley upgrade kit, ceramic-coated headers and cats, dual active cat back exhaust, cold-air intake, ECU calibration, decals, certificate of authenticity, Walkinshaw logo and balance of the new vehicle drive-line warranty.
Mr Harris said that with 200 orders waiting to be filled, availability of the W507 Package would be limited in the lead up to Christmas.
