LandCruiser scales new Altitude

TOYOTA Australia has released a special-edition 200 Series LandCruiser wagon featuring a range of premium features for $2776 more than the entry-level GXL variant upon which it is based.

Now on sale in both 4.7-litre petrol V8 form ($80,190 plus on-road costs) and with a 4.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel ($90,440), the automatic-only LandCruiser Altitude rides on larger 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with a host of equipment from the range-topping Sahara variant.

As with last September’s 60th Anniversary LandCruiser, extras over the least expensive GXL variant (priced from $77,414) include leather-accented seat trim, a leather-clad gearshifter, powered front seats and a colour touch-screen satellite-navigation system.

The big LC200 wagon is the third Toyota SUV to wear the limited-edition Altitude badge, following the release of the RAV4 Altitude last July and the Kluger Altitude in mid-2009.

On sale from August 1, the LC200 Altitude is not available with any other fleet discounts, including the Gold Fleet offer for selected Toyota vehicles purchased and delivered before September 30 as part of the Toyotathon retail campaign.

LandCruiser sales were 8.6 per cent down in a large SUV segment that was down 7.1 per cent in the first half of this year, but the ‘Cruiser remains the dominant player with no fewer than 4110 sold for a 71.3 per cent share of the category to June 2011.
