Benz recalls 600 diesels

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 31st Jan 2012

MERCEDES-BENZ has recalled more than 600 examples of its C-class and E-class luxury cars to fix a potential diesel fuel leak.

The safety recall affects 608 C-class and E-class models fitted with the OM642 2.1-litre turbo-diesel engine produced between November 2009 and July 2011.

Mercedes said leaking diesel fuel, due to a faulty fuel filter, may pose a potential hazard to other road users.

It has advised the owners of affected vehicles to make arrangements with their local authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have an inspection carried out as soon as possible.
