Mett scoops GM supplier gong

MELBOURNE aluminium castings supplier Mett Pty Ltd has been awarded a prestigious global Supplier of the Year award by General Motors.

The Victorian-based automotive component company was honoured at GM’s annual awards ceremony for suppliers in Florida at the weekend.

Mett was one of 97 companies recognised at GM’s Supplier of the Year gala dinner – the fourth time in the event’s 16-year history that Mett has been honoured, most recently in 1999.

“GM is proud to honour our best suppliers with the Supplier of the Year award, an award that we believe is the most meaningful honour in the industry,” said Bo Andersson, GM group vice-president, global purchasing and supply chain.

“It is our way of telling them that we appreciate all their efforts in helping GM manufacture its world-class vehicles.



“These suppliers are the best of the best. They understand that our mutual success can only be achieved by sharing common goals and priorities.” Commencing in 1992, the annual GM supplier awards are judged by a global team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives, who base their decisions on supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.

In attendance on the night were Rick Wagoner, GM chairman and chief executive officer Fritz Henderson, GM president and chief operating officer Gary Cowger, GM group vice president, global manufacturing and labor relations and Denny Mooney, former chairman and managing director of GM Holden and now GM vice-president, global vehicle systems and integration.
