BMW has titillated car fans by revealing this Facebook image of what appears to be an M235i coupe smoking the rubber in a video to be released at 9am today CEST (Central European Summer Time), which is 5pm Australian eastern time.
No, the video is not of the hot M2 due out next year, as some fans speculate, but of a team of drifters lighting up the public streets in M235i coupes for a promotional video believed to have been shot in South Africa.
The same flock of red 2 Series coupes is also seen howling around a big roundabout in another teaser image revealed on the BMW Facebook page yesterday, with the caption: “Flashmobs are ancient history now. We proudly introduce to you: The Driftmob featuring the BMW M235i! Stay tuned for some smoking action on inner city streets tomorrow!” For now, the M235i is the hottest 2 Series in the small coupe range, pumping out 240kW of power from its turbo-charged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine.
Late next year, the full-house M2 will take over the flagship mantle, with its 279kW 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine.
