KIA has recalled its Sorento SUV on the eve of its successor’s release here later this month.
Owners of all Sorentos built between September and October 2006 are requested to contact their nearest Kia dealership to arrange inspection and replacement of a potentially faulty stop-light switch.
According to Kia Motors Australia, some vehicles’ brake lights may not illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed or may remain illuminated when the brake pedal is released.
Other possible problems include the inability to move the gearshifter from the Park position, the illumination of the ‘ESC OFF’ light and the cruise control system continuing to be active after the brakes are applied.
The problem is believed to have affected 431 Sorentos.
