SOMETIMES popularity can come at a price, as Renault Australia found out when overseas demand for the Captur crossover far outstripped supply, forcing a delay exacerbated by child-seat anchorage issues.

Both have now been addressed, but it means the compact SUV that would have wowed us in early 2014 is now less remarkable against newer rivals.

Still, the base Expression manual certainly has its strengths.
