RE-STYLED, revamped and ready to take on the dominant HiLux, Ford’s new Ranger sports an aggressive new look backed up by improved ride comfort, adept dynamics and plenty of new kit, although the former comes at a cost.
Destined to cop criticism for the absence of a standard reversing camera on all bar the Wildtrak flagship, the active safety systems also optionally available on that same variant are class-leading and – for now – unique to the Ranger.
Drivetrains have been left largely unchanged, apart from some minor tweaks that have yielded a little more power and torque for the 2.2-litre engine, but Ford has adopted an “ain’t broke, don’t fix it” strategy with its globally sold Australian-developed utility.
