Hyundai lifts price, spec of facelifted i30 Tourer

HYUNDAI has upped prices and specifications on its Euro-sourced i30 Tourer wagon range, which has received a makeover to bring it into line with the updated hatch bodystyle that launched in April.

The price increases are at odds with the downward trend seen on most facelifted hatch variants, but are offset by the standard fitment of Hyundai’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a reversing camera and five-inch touchscreen multimedia system at entry level.

Entry level Active variants are simply renamed Tourer and come with a choice of 98kW/163Nm 1.6-litre petrol engine for $27,990 plus on-road costs or 100kW/300Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel at $30,590, while the diesel-only, top-spec Elite is $34,190.

The upgraded diesel engine gains 6kW of power and 40Nm of torque over its predecessor, while fuel consumption has dropped to 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres – a 1.0L/100km saving.

The aforementioned touchscreen fitted to base Tourers provides access to a six-speaker audio system with MP3 compatibility, media storage and Bluetooth audio streaming that also enables Pandora internet radio via a tethered smartphone.

Other features include cruise control with speed limiter, keyless entry with alarm, a reversing camera and sensors, multi-function steering wheel with rake and reach adjustment, manual air conditioning with rear vents, front and rear electric windows, driver’s seat height adjustment and 16-inch alloy wheels.

In addition to a few cosmetic flourishes, Elite variants upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control with automatic windscreen defogging, keyless entry and start, automatic headlights and wipers, auto-folding door mirrors with LED indicators and upgraded instruments with TFT multi-function display.
