IF Land Rovers of yore have been good at anything, it is going where many others cannot. While something of a contradiction, the Freelander at first glance looks the part. The compact size appeals enormously and there are plenty of indications the usual suspension magic has been built in. The reality is the Freelander generally fails to deliver. It lacks power, a dual-range gearbox for off-roading and ergonomics.
