BACK in the mid-'90s, Mitsubishi Australia wasn't convinced it needed Mirage, such was the perceived strength of the new Lancer range. But the little three-door was viewed favourably in local pre-launch clinics, and given the nod. It was a good decision. Though now starting to show its age, Mirage remains a stylish and mighty contender in the compact class where it competes against the likes of the new Toyota Echo and Ford Ka.
