HYUNDAI has given us a funky, well-packaged and well-priced small SUV in the all-new Tucson. A quick check of the specification sheets, cross-referenced to the price list, will reveal some significant advantages over other vehicles in its class. And Korean quality keeps getting better all the time – as do the on-road dynamics. The Tucson is a good drive, has plenty of space and plenty of creature comforts – and offers a 2.7-litre V6 in a market dominated by four-cylinder engines. But does that make it smoother, more refined or more powerful than others? Well, not exactly. It certainly makes it less economical.
