IT HAS been more than a decade since Porsche shook up its line-up, and its die-hard fans, by introducing its first ever SUV, the Cayenne.

Almost 12 years and one generation later, the German sportscar-maker has given its second-gen model a mid-life refresh to keep its biggest soft-roader at the top of buyer's minds, and to ensure it looks fresh next to its new, smaller Macan crossover sibling.

Some new powertrains, efficiency and performance improvements, safety and equipment upgrades and subtle, yet effective styling changes headline the facelift.

With increased pressure from impressive rivals including the strong-selling Range Rover Sport, has Porsche done enough to ensure the Cayenne keeps its title as the king of the performance SUVs?
