Subaru XV prices plummet for 2015

Already the benefit of cuts last year on the back of the Japan-Australia free-trade agreement, the entire XV line-up is now $2000 cheaper across the board than it was in December 2014.
These cuts follow a similar round of reductions across the Impreza range last week, and come as the XV’s sales performance starts to stall in the face of newer competition.
The entry level XV 2.0i model drops to $26,490, plus on-road costs, which marks a further $1250 reduction on top of a $750 correction in January.
The XV 2.0i-L now starts at $29,990 again, a total of $2000 has been carved off the recommended retail price.
The 2.0i-S has also dropped $2000 in a similar fashion, now listing at $32,490 before on-road costs in manual guise.
“Like so many Subaru category trendsetters before it – not least WRX, Outback and Forester – XV was an original,” public relations manager David Rowley told GoAuto, “and its ongoing sales success strongly suggests a growing loyal audience, partly thanks to the rock-solid traits of all-wheel-drive, durability, safety and engineering.”Mr Rowley scotched the idea for a turbocharged warmed-over version of the chunky crossover.
“There aren’t any plans for a turbo version,” he said. “Our focus in that area currently remains on performance road cars – WRX and WRX STI – rather than SUVs.”In line with the Impreza on which the XV is based, infotainment systems across the range have been upgraded. The entry-level 2.0i scores a 6.2-inch touchscreen-based system, while the L and S variants are fitted with a 7.0-inch touchscreen system incorporating satellite-navigation.
Additional interior tweaks to the base car include the addition of a pair of five-volt USB ports for rear seat passengers and improved steering wheel switchgear.
The L and S receive a new multi-information display in the centre of the instrument cluster, as well as small changes to cosmetic trim elements such as the gearbox surround and leather seat stitch colour.
At 2059 sales until the end of March on the books, the XV is some 29.5 per cent off its year-on-year result from 2014. It lies fifth in a very strong segment that’s led by Hyundai’s ix35 at 4836 sales.
The XV was pushed down a spot on the table by the launch of the Honda HR-V, which racked up 2122 sales in the first quarter after just two months on sale.
Mazda's recently launched CX-3 is also likely to have a big impact this year.
