Performax adds Nissan Titan to portfolio

Joining other converted V8-powered American utes such as the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Super Duty, GMC Denali and Toyota Tundra, the Titan is powered by a 5.0-litre Cummins turbo-diesel V8 producing 235kW/752Nm, enabling enables a 5200kg braked towing capacity.
The big V8 is teamed to a six-speed Aisin automatic gearbox and a transfer case with dual-range, on-demand four-wheel drive.
Alongside the single-cab, Performax will offer two dual-cab variants, starting with the off-road-focused Pro-4X from $135,000, and the range-topping XD Platinum Reserve from $139,000.
The Titan undercuts its main rival, the Ram 2500, which starts at $139,500 for the Laramie, however the Ram is only offered in dual-cab guise.
The dual-cab features a cargo bed measuring 2000mm long and 1620mm wide, and allows for a 900kg payload.
It comes with a 120V power outlet and overhead light, and can be optioned with inboard Titan Boxes for storage, a Utili-track tie-down system, under-rail cargo bed, and a tailgate that is lit, opens softly on dampers and locks electrically.
Other features include 20-inch alloy wheels, 360-degree surround cameras, automatic headlights, front tow hooks, underbody protection, hill-start assist, tyre-pressure monitor, vehicle dynamic control, trailer-sway control and trailer light check.
Inside, the top-spec Platinum Reserve gets leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats with eight-way adjustable memory seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with microfilter, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, cruise control, tilt-adjustable steering wheel with mounted controls, and a locking compartment under the rear seats of the dual-cab versions.
Nissan’s Zero Gravity comfort seating is available as an option.
The Titan comes with a three-year warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance, and can be serviced at authorised dealers nationwide.
It is on display this week at the Queensland Caravan Camping and Touring Supershow at the Brisbane Showgrounds, with Performax’s booth also displaying a Chevrolet Silverado and a preview of the new, aluminium-bodied Ford F250 Super Duty.
The Titan’s only mass-produced rival comes in the form of the Ram 2500/3500, which is distributed through a partnership with Ateco Automotive and the Walkinshaw Automotive Groups.
Ram has sold 134 units of its massive pick-up in the first five months of 2017, up 30.1 per cent over the same time last year.
