POSTIES have long been envied for their two-wheeled company transport, but those tasked with carrying more than a little Honda CT110 can manage are likely to end up behind the wheel of Renault’s latest Trafic.
It might not yet have an automatic option – anyone who drove the previous Gen II version’s awful self-shifter will be reaching for the mind bleach anyway – but the twin-turbo torque of the dCi 140 variant tested here promises to minimise stick-stirring requirements.
That’s right, delivery drivers can now say they drive a European twin-turbo in a bar room bragging contest. Back at the office, fuel bills from the comically small but incredibly potent 1.6-litre diesel donk should keep the accountant – and the environment – happy too.
But is the Trafic just a spec-sheet show-pony or a real-world load-lugging legend? After a week living with one, we’re inclined toward the latter.
