LDV has expanded its T60 pick-up range to include two new single-cab variants, with the range now kicking off with the rear-drive 4x2 version from $23,990 driveaway for ABN holders or $25,253 for non-business customers.
A four-wheel-drive version of the single-cab is also available from $26,990 and $28,411 for business and non-business buyers respectively.
Both single-cab versions come with the same Euro5-compliant 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine underpinning the rest of the T60 range, which produces 110kW at 3400rpm and 360Nm between 1600-2800rpm, teamed exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Fuel economy is rated at 8.8 litres per 100km, while emissions stand at 133 grams of CO2 per kilometre.
The 4x2 variant is the sole rear-drive offering in the T60 line-up, with all four dual-cab versions employing all-wheel drive.
Unlike the dual-cab, both single-cab versions come only in cab-chassis body style, with the aluminium alloy tray included in the asking price.
Both versions come with a 3000kg braked towing capacity, while the 4x4 version gets a boosted gross vehicle mass, 3050kg compared to 2850kg, and payload, 1255kg to 1145kg.
Heavy-duty leaf-spring suspension is standard at the rear, while both variants share a similar level of specification, including front and rear disc brakes, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Cloth seats with six-way driver and four-way passenger manual adjustment are standard, with interior comforts including air-conditioning, cruise control, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, 12V power outlet, a USB port, and Bluetooth-compatible stereo with two speakers.
Standard safety features include six airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, ABS brakes, electronic brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability program, hill descent control, hill-start assist, traction control, vehicle dynamics control, engine immobiliser and tyre pressure monitor.
Single-cab variants retain the dual-cab’s five-star ANCAP safety rating.
While the dual-cab variants come with a range of exterior colour options, the single-cab palette will consist only of white.
The arrival of the T60 in November has helped spur local sales for LDV, which have increased 139 per cent year-on-year to the end of February.
Accounting for nearly half the brand’s sales, the T60 has seen 313 new registrations out of 736 sales for the brand in the first two months of 2018.
LDV Australia general manager Dinesh Chinnappa said the popularity of the T60 has surprised the brand.
“We know that by moving from the van sector, which is little more than two per cent of the market, into a sector that accounts for more than 25 per cent of the market would have a transformative effect on our business,” he said.
“But the speed at which the T60’s sales have taken off has genuinely surprised us. Added to that the interest around the launch of T60 has clearly raised the profile of our van range and their sales have benefited from the halo effect of the arrival of the LDV T60.”
