AUDI released three teaser images of the lightly facelifted TT Coupe on its Facebook page overnight, but an Instagram user has jumped the gun and leaked unconfirmed low-resolution press shots of the sportscar.
The upgraded third-generation model is set to break cover soon with revised exterior styling and a refreshed interior at the very least, with the teaser images and press shots backing up these expectations.
Two of the teaser images depict a cropped view of the TT Coupe’s rear three-quarter angle, which includes new angular vents below the carry-over tail-lights, as well as a restyled bumper and diffuser.
The other teaser image shows the TT Coupe’s blurred side profile as it drives down the straight of the Isle of Man TT – the racing circuit from which the sportscar derives its name – offering little insight into the changes made.
However, the press shots – which are of the TT S Coupe – indicate that the side skirts will be tweaked with accents along their lower edge, while fresh alloy wheels should also be on the cards.
The most significant changes are reserved for the TT S Coupe’s front end, which appears to add a honeycomb insert for Audi’s signature Singleframe grille, while a more aggressive bumper incorporates pronounced side air intakes linked by an accented splitter.
Inside, upgrades are even more subtle, appearing to be limited to new trim colours, including a blue hue that matches that of the pictured TT S Coupe.
It is unclear yet if there will be any changes to the engines and automatic transmission currently available in the TT Coupe.
For reference, the current TT line-up ranges in price from $74,700 before on-road costs for the manual TT Coupe 2.0 TFSI Sport to $141,611 for the automatic TT RS Roadster.
The facelifted TT Coupe is expected to break cover in the coming weeks, while an Australian launch is likely to take place early next year. Its international debut could take place at the Paris motor show in September.
Sales of the TT have improved this year, with 120 examples sold to the end of June – a 17.6 per cent increase over the 102 deliveries made during the same period in 2017.
This effort places the TT seventh in the $80,000-plus sportscar segment this year, trailing the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet (1064 units), BMW 4 Series Coupe and Convertible (410), Audi A5 Coupe and Cabriolet (379), E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet (374), Lexus RC (189) and Porsche Cayman (138).
