HSV expands Colorado SportsCat range with Look Pack

HOLDEN Special Vehicles (HSV) has added a third full-time grade to its enhanced Colorado SportsCat line-up, with the mid-range Look Pack taking visual cues from the flagship SportsCat+ and adding them to the mechanical package of the entry-level SportsCat.
Priced from $62,490 before-on road costs, the SportsCat Look Pack commands a $1700 premium over the SportsCat but is $4300 cheaper than the SportsCat+.
While a six-speed manual transmission is standard with the three grades, a six-speed torque-converter automatic unit can instead be optioned for $2200.
Specifically, the SportsCat Look Pack features the SportsCat+’s front fascia, grille, bonnet bulge, 18-inch alloy wheels, fender flares and hard tonneau cover.
Inside, the new grade also picks up the range-topper’s SV sports seats wrapped in Jasmine leather and Windsor suede.
These features are in addition to the sports suspension, unique electronic stability control (ESC) tune, increased ride height, wider tracks and Cooper Zeon LTZ Sports all-terrain tyres taken from the SportsCat.
In order to differentiate the SportsCat Look Pack and SportsCat+, the former misses out on the latter’s rear decoupling anti-roll bar and AP Racing braking package, while SupaShock suspension is an exclusive $3600 option for the dearest grade.
However, the SportsCat Look Pack does gain access to the SportsCat+ optional sailplane ($1300), while range-wide options include a tub-liner ($300), a load master ($795), an eye-bolt ($75) and a load rack ($647).
Dark Shadow and Mineral Black prestige paintwork cost $550, while Crush has been added to the no-cost colour palette.
As per the SportsCat and SportsCat+, no upgrades have been made to the Colorado’s 2.8-litre Duramax turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine in the Look Pack.
As such, the powertrain continues to produce 147kW of power at 3600rpm and 440Nm (manual) or 500Nm (automatic) of torque at 2000rpm.
According to HSV managing director Tim Jackson, customer and dealer feedback prompted the company’s decision to expand its Colorado line-up, which is converted at its new facility in Clayton South, Victoria.
“The rugged styling cues of the SportsCat+ model have been exceptionally well received by customers and HSV dealers alike,” he said.
“The introduction of the Look Pack now provides buyers with three distinctive SportsCat specification and pricing alternatives to suit their work and lifestyle requirements.”
While HSV does not report its sales data to VFACTS, sales of Holden’s Colorado have taken a hit this year, with 15,400 examples sold to the end of October – a 6.4 per cent decrease over the 16,456 deliveries made during the same period in 2017.
Nonetheless, the Colorado is currently the fourth best-selling model in the ute segment, trailing the Toyota HiLux (43,163 units), Ford Ranger (35,310) and Mitsubishi Triton (20,492).
