Skoda starts iV electric family with Citigo-e

SKODA has launched its iV family of electric vehicles with the reveal of the Citigo-e iV, but Australian sales of the all-electric five-door micro hatch have already been ruled out.

The Citigo-e iV has a 61kW/210Nm electric motor mounted on the front axle, which enables it to sprint from standstill to 100km/h in 12.5 seconds while on the way to a top speed of 130km/h.

Its 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery is located in the chassis floor and enables up to 265km of driving range on Europe’s recently introduced WLTP cycle test.

It can be charged from zero to 80 per cent in as little as one hour when using a Combined Charging System (CCS) charging cable connected to a 40kW DC fast charger.

Using a 7.2kW AC wallbox instead takes just over four hours, while plugging into a 2.3kW domestic power outlet is the slowest, at about 12.5 hours.

Externally, the Citigo-e iV separates itself from its internal-combustion Citigo counterparts with its body-colour grille, redesigned front bumper and ‘Citigo-e’ tailgate badge.

Inside, the instrument panel and the area above have also been tweaked to further differentiate the Citigo-e iV.

Measuring in at 3597mm long and 1645mm wide, the Citigo-e iV seats four passengers and provides 250L of cargo capacity with its rear bunch upright, or 923L with it stowed.

The Citigo-e iV will enter production in the second half of this year, joining the plug-in hybrid Superb iV large car as Skoda’s first electrified models. The latter is also not heading Down Under (see separate story).
