Mercedes lobs updated V-Class pricing

MERCEDES-BENZ Vans Australia has released its updated V-Class people-mover range which ushers in updated styling, increased specification and new safety feautres, with the range kicking off from $79,627 plus on-roads.

 

The entry-level V220d has increased its price by just $357, while the top-spec V250d has also increased incrementally by $760, to $93,800.

 

Justifying the small price increase are some small changes, starting with the redesigned front bumper which features a long, wide air intake and a diamond radiator grille.

 

A new AMG Line diamond radiator grille with chrome pins is available as an option to give the V-Class a more striking exterior look.

 

Completing the exterior update, three new paint hues – Graphite Grey, Selenite Grey and Hyazith Red – are available as well as new 17-inch rims for the V220d and 18s for the V250d.

 

Inside, the V-Class scores new trim elements – high-gloss black for the V220d and a double-stripe look for the V250d – as well as Mercedes’ signature turbine-style air vents and a Tartufo Nappa leather upholstery option.

 

For those seeking ultimate comfort, luxury seats borrowed from the S-Class sedan with full reclining functionality, back massaging and ventilation are available as an option. Three massage intensities and ventilation stages can be selected.

 

New active safety systems have been added to the V-Class range, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and adaptive LED headlights as standard on the V250d and optional on the V220d.

 

No changes have been made to the engine line-up, with both variants employing a 2.1-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

 

The V220d produces 120kW/380Nm, while the V250d turns up the wick to 140kW/440Nm.

 

Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia managing director Diane Tarr said the V-Class appeals both to private and business buyers.

 

“It’s for families with an active lifestyle who need space and comfort but don’t want to forgo luxury and safety,” she said.

 

“Plus, it has proven to be a popular choice for business operators who need to transport people in a stylish, sophisticated way. The new V-Class brings with it a fresh look, with new safety technology.”

 

Through the first three quarters of 2019, V-Class sales have slipped 57.8 per cent, from 393 sales to 166, however it still tops the $60,000-plus people-mover segment which only features its Valente and Marco Polo stablemates.
