Renault Koleos scores LED headlights for 2021

IN A time of new year’s resolutions, Renault Australia has detailed the 2021 update for its Koleos mid-sized SUV which ushers in some minor styling tweaks across the range and a heap more standard kit for the flagship Intens.

Due to touch down in March, pricing for the entry-level Life variant has held firm at $32,990 plus on-road costs despite the addition of LED headlights and automatic high beam.

The same cannot be said however for the mid-range Zen, the asking price of which has risen $300 to $36,790 with the same upgrades as the Life.

At the top of the range once again resides the Intens which has been treated to plenty of new standard features given its $300 price increase, including black Nappa leather upholstery, memory and massage function for the driver’s seat, new front headrests and cushion length adjustment, side-mirror tilt when reversing, dynamic indicators and LED reversing lights.

All-wheel-drive variants also score hill descent control as standard.

No changes have been made under the bonnet of any variant with the sole engine choice still being the familiar naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine good for 126kW/226Nm.

Drive is still sent to either the front or all four wheels via a continuously variable transmission.

Renault Australia managing director Anouk Poelmann was pleased with the Koleos’ sales performance last year and expects sales to keep on increasing.

“Koleos had a great result in 2020, recording a total of 2408 sales in a year that presented the toughest selling conditions in memory,” she said.

“It set a new watermark for Renault sales, with 620 sales in November as more Australian customers realised its outstanding mix of performance, safety and value for money.

“The upgraded version adds a raft of new creature comforts and we are confident the momentum built in 2020 will continue when the new model arrives.”

Those 2408 sales last year equated to a 1.6 per cent share of the booming sub-$60,000 mid-sized SUV segment and marking a 4.9 per cent sales dip compared to 2019 (2533).
