HAVAL has released some of the key details of its upcoming H6 mid-sized SUV range, including the number of variants and its starting price of $30,990 driveaway.
Due to arrive in local showrooms from the start of April, the H6 range will consist of three different variants, all powered by the same 150kW/320Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
The H6 Premium will open the range and come as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED head-, daytime running, tail- and rear foglights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring.
Safety equipment meanwhile will consist of seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, lane change assist with blind spot monitoring and driver fatigue monitoring.
The Premium is the only variant to have been priced so far with Haval Australia saying it “is rare for entry-grade medium SUVs to be offered with such an extensive list of features” at this price point.
Above the Premium will be the Lux which adds LED front fog lamps, roof rails, a leather steering wheel, heated Comfortek eco-leather seats (power adjustable for driver), dual-zone climate control, an eight-speaker DTS audio system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, intelligent cruise assist, traffic jam assist and surround-view camera.
At the top of the range, the H6 Ultra will not only offer more standard equipment again, but will also come with the option of all-wheel-drive – front-wheel-drive is the default with all variants utilising the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Standard kit on the range topper will include everything listed above as well as 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, a bigger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, head-up display, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, four-way power adjustable passenger’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, rear cross-traffic alert and fully automatic parking.
Despite the launch being almost imminent, Haval says it will reveal the full pricing and specification of the new H6 range closer to its release.
As previously reported by GoAuto, the new model rides on an all-new platform for 2021 with GWM Australia head of marketing and communications Steve Maciver outlining the brand’s confidence in its new mid-sizer.
“The design and engineering teams that have produced this world-class SUV have done an outstanding job and there’s no doubt it will further elevate the status of the GWM Haval brand here in Australia,” he said at the H6’s debut earlier this month.
Haval Australia sold just 189 examples of the outgoing H6 across January and February this year, accounting for a slim 0.8 per cent of the sub-$60,000 mid-sized SUV segment.
