Holden limited edition Colorado goes driveaway

GM HOLDEN has added more kit to its Colorado pick-up to maintain interest in the workhorse, ahead of the arrival of the mid-life facelift that touches down in the third quarter of the year.

The car-maker has re-introduced the Colorado LS-X 4x4 Crew Cab pick-up that was also offered last year, and builds on the specification of the LS variant.

Pricing for limited edition Thai-built ute is $37,990 driveaway until June, which is a significant saving over the recommended retail price of the LS 4x4 Crew Cab pick-up on which it is based.

The LS 4x4 starts at $45,490 for the six-speed manual and $46,190 for the automatic, with both of those prices excluding on-road costs.

Over and above the LS, the LS-X gains front foglights, an alloy sports bar, a Colorado-branded smoked bonnet protector, unique LS-X badging, 16-inch alloy wheels and carpet flooring inside.

Buyers opting for the six-speed automatic transmission will not be charged extra, according to Holden, and the Colorado is covered by three years of free servicing.

The LS already features as standard a 7.0-inch colour touchscreen, MyLink infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and electric windows, cruise control, leather steering wheel, two 12-volt power outlets in the dash and one in the rear of the centre console and a rear window demister.

Powering the 4x4 LS-X is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel producing 147kW and 440Nm, which is a good for a maximum towing capacity of 3500kg and fuel economy of 7.9 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.

GM Holden executive director of sales Peter Keley said the limited edition Colorado should appeal to buyers looking for a good value pick-up.

“Colorado is a very tough and accomplished vehicle and now, with the additional LS-X features and an attractive driveaway price of just $37,990, it ensures Holden continues to provide exceptional value for money,” he said.

“Additionally with our End of Financial Year Offers, this is an excellent time for customers to visit their local Holden dealer.”Holden revealed its heavily facelifted Colorado last week in its Brazilian-market S10 form, but it is expected that the Australian-spec model will share many, if not all of the design updates.

That reveal followed last month's Bangkok motor show debut of the Colorado Xtreme show car that previewed the updated Colorado and the Trailblazer Premier, which is a concept version of the forthcoming seven-seat Colorado 7 replacement that will be dubbed Trailblazer in Australia from later this year.

To the end of March this year, the Colorado is the fourth most popular pick-up in the country with 4335 combined 4x2 and 4x4 sales behind the segment-leading Toyota HiLux, Ford's Ranger and the Mitsubishi Triton.

Year to date, it is ahead of rivals including the Nissan Navara, the mechanically related Isuzu Ute D-Max and the Mazda BT-50.
