LIKE the new LandCruiser 200 Series on which it is based, the new Lexus SUV flagship heads upstream in terms of size, technology, refinement, safety, performance – and price. At around $137,000 for the entry-level prestige and $152,000 for the top-shelf Sports Luxury, the two-tier LX570 range comes standard with 10 airbags, an even better appointed interior, a more capable off-road suspension and four-wheel drive system, and more sheer grunt from a new 5.7-litre petrol V8, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Is a little more fuel efficient than before, and vastly quicker, but the big new LX570 is far from green.
