Polestar to offer money-back guarantee

POLESTAR Australia has bolstered its customer satisfaction promise by offering Polestar 2 owners the chance to return their vehicle after seven days if they are not fully happy with it.

The Gothenburg-based electric-vehicle company says the offer is further evidence of its confidence in its vehicles and of its commitment to its customers.

Known as the Polestar Customer Satisfaction Guarantee, the offer is open to private buyers of Polestar 2 variants and is applicable for one week of ownership, provided the vehicle has not travelled more than 500km.

Polestar Australia managing director Samantha Johnson says that if, for any reason, a customer is dissatisfied with their purchase, they can return their vehicle for a full refund.

“A new vehicle is often the second-largest purchase a person will make after a home, so it’s important to not only recognise that, but to also stand behind our vehicles – and our customers – with a guarantee that provides the peace-of-mind and confidence in the direct-to-consumer model,” Ms Johnson explained.

“We see that Australians are increasingly ready to make the switch to electric vehicles, and this guarantee is designed to make that transition as easy as possible for Polestar 2 customers.”

The offer comes on top of Polestar’s direct-to-customer sales model and existing five-year manufacturer-backed warranty, which includes roadside assistance and a five-year service plan.

The news comes at the same time as Polestar announces that the first pre-configured customer deliveries of its Polestar 2 model will commence next month.

Ms Johnson says nearly 300 reservations have been placed on the all-electric four-door model following test drive opportunities in major centres around the country.

“There is incredible interest in electric vehicles in Australia, with sales increasing by more than 190 per cent year-on-year in 2021,” she said.

“We’re thrilled that the Polestar 2 is now here to help meet that demand. With 180 vehicles on the ground in Australia and ready for delivery in March, the Polestar 2 will further accelerate our national shift to an electric-vehicle fleet.”

The Polestar 2 is the company’s first fully electric model. Priced from $59,900 (plus on-road costs), it is available in Standard Range Single Motor, Long Range Single Motor ($64,900) and Long Range Dual Motor ($69,900) variants.

In January, the premium electric car manufacturer announced that it delivered on its global sales target of 29,000 vehicles in 2021, representing year-on-year growth of over 185 per cent. The brand also increased its global presence from 10 to 19 markets last year, with significant growth in Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

During the first half of this year (2022), Polestar plans to add Spain, Portugal and Ireland to its European market footprint, and enter the Middle East region with presences in the UAE, Kuwait and Israel.

By the end of 2023, Polestar says it plans to be operation in more than 30 global markets.
