Jaguar debuts F-Pace 400 Sport

JAGUAR has introduced its F-Pace 400 Sport as part of its MY23 range. The Coventry-based firm says the new variant brings more technology, as well as a smooth and refined mild-hybrid Ingenium six-cylinder powertrain to the brand’s large-SUV portfolio.

 

The 400 Sport’s 3.0-litre V6 MHEV engine develops 294kW and 550Nm of torque and features a twin-scroll turbocharger backed by an electric supercharger, continuously variable inlet-valve lift control, as well as high-pressure direct fuel injection. The variant is said to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds and go on to a top speed of 250km/h.

 

The mild-hybrid system uses a belt integrated starter/generator in place of a conventional alternator to recuperate energy that would otherwise be lost during deceleration and braking, which is then stored in a 48V lithium-ion battery packaged beneath the cargo area floor. This energy is used to assist the engine when accelerating and enables a smoother, quieter and more responsive stop/start function, Jaguar says.

 

The range is also offered with a choice of 184kW petrol four-cylinder Ingenium and 221kW diesel six-cylinder Ingenium powertrains, the latter also with mild-hybrid tech.

 

All F-Pace variants feature all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmissions, which can be controlled either by the Jaguar Drive Selector or steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles.

 

Distinguished by 21-inch gloss black alloys (22-inch wheels are optional), standard Black Pack trim, privacy glass and gloss black roof rails, the newly launched 400 Sport features Windsor leather performance seats, ebony Suedecloth headliner, stain charcoal ash veneer garnishes, 30-colour ambient lighting and Alexa voice control.

 

Alexa voice control is now offered as standard across the F-Pace line-up, a range which now includes the R-Dynamic S, SE, HSE and 400 Sport. Jaguar says Alexa’s functionality can be accessed while keeping one’s hands on the ‘wheel and eyes on the road.

 

Alexa even makes it possible to control compatible smart home features such as heating and lighting from the F-Pace’s cabin.

 

“The seamless integration of Amazon Alexa with our Pivi Pro infotainment system gives customers simple, intuitive voice control of regularly used features, making the driving experience even more enjoyable,” said Jaguar Land Rover director of electrical and electronic engineering, Alex Heslop.

 

“The fact we can also offer this new feature to existing customers proves the value of our software-over-the-air-updates.”

 

Australian pricing and specification will be advised closer to the model’s local launch. The current F-Pace range is priced from $79,46 (plus on-road costs).
