Toyota rings changes for H2 2022

TOYOTA has announced upgrades to its hatchback, sedan, sportscar, as well as small and medium SUV ranges that will be rolled out during the second half of 2022. The Corolla, Camry, C-HR, GR Supra, RAV4, Yaris and Yaris Cross are all set to be enhanced.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the raft of updates across several models demonstrated the Aichi-based brand’s ongoing commitment to continuously improving the line-up.

"Toyota will continue to keep our customers informed on key changes to our significant line-up and we encourage our customers to speak with their preferred Toyota Dealer about these enhancements," Mr Hanley said.

Corolla variants gain the most extensive improvements, with hybrid versions of the hatch and sedan also receiving an 8kW boost (bumping up combined peak power to 98kW).

The light car’s safety and security systems, meanwhile, will be enhanced through the introduction of Toyota Connected Services, which are enabled through a built-in data communication module (DCM) that offers advanced safety features such as automatic collision notification, SOS emergency call and stolen-vehicle tracking.

The Corolla also gains the latest version of Toyota's multimedia system, with additional USB-C connectivity, along with “a number of updated safety and convenience features” (although Toyota Australia didn’t specify which ones). Exterior styling tweaks, meanwhile, will include fresh alloy-wheel designs and an updated colour palette.

For Yaris Cross, updates will incorporate improved technology and enhancements to interior trim, including black leather-accented upholstery on Urban variants. GR Supra will also receive new-look wheels and a newly offered manual transmission version.

Apart from the Yaris Cross, the Yaris, C-HR and Camry will all be available with an updated exterior colour range that introduces a raft of new colours and finishes.

Earlier this month, Toyota also announced that its popular RAV4 would receive upgrades to its multimedia, technology, and safety systems in the second half of this year.

All variants of the medium SUV will feature the brand’s latest-generation multimedia system (replete with USB-C connectivity and the addition of Connected Services), as well as the Safety Sense suite of driver-assistance technologies, including Intersection Pre-Collision Safety and Emergency Steering Assist.

According to the VFACTS new-vehicle sales figures for April, Toyota again led the Australian market led Mazda and Mitsubishi by a margin of 10,578 unit sales (13.1 market share points). The big T led the market with a total of 17,956 sales overall for the month.

On the topic of stock-supply issues, which pertains to especially RAV4 variants, a TMCA spokesperson recently told GoAutothat, “as a result of global supply challenges, Toyota Australia is experiencing longer wait times for new-vehicle deliveries across its range.

“Our focus remains on doing everything we can to get customers into their new Toyota vehicles as soon as possible. As the availability of supply is an evolving situation around the world, we continue to work closely with our global production team to secure the maximum possible number of vehicles for our local customers.

“We are continuing to update our dealers as the situation evolves. Dealers are best placed to provide customers with the most up-to-date delivery information for their specific vehicle.”

Further details and any price adjustments will be announced closer to each model's arrival in the second half of the year, Toyota Australia said.
