IT IS AN event that would make Glenn Ridge proud, a 12-hour pre-sale grab… with free luggage. And while it might sound very Sale of the Century, the one-day event will offer eager punters the chance to secure one of the very first Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ns in the country.
On September 15, Hyundai will give customers just 12 hours (from midday until midnight AEST) to order an Ioniq 5 N online via its public website.
The opportunity is offered ahead of the vehicle’s official delivery schedule of Q1 next year.
Vehicles will be built to order in each customer’s chosen specification and will include a set of branded Pelican cases and other N merch valued at over $1000.
Hyundai has listed the retail price of the single-grade Ioniq 5 N at $111,000 plus on-road costs, $39,000 more than the opening price of the Ioniq 5 range and $11,410 more than the twin-under-the-skin Kia EV6 GT.
The pre-sale of Hyundai’s first all-electric performance model coincides with the N brand’s eighth anniversary, the original i30 N having been launched at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show.
Hyundai says Ioniq 5 N customers will be able to configure the Ioniq 5 N in their combination of options, colour and trim before securing their order with a $2000 deposit. Available options include a Vision Roof ($2000) and Matte Paint ($1000).
The Ioniq 5 N paint palette includes Performance Blue Matte, Performance Blue, Abyss Black, Cyber Grey, Ecotronic Grey, Atlas White Matte, Atlas White, Gravity Gold Matte, and Soultronic Orange.
Detailed Australian specifications will be announced closer to the model’s Australian launch.
“The Ioniq 5 N pre-sale event will give our N-thusiast customers the chance to be the very first in Australia to experience Hyundai N’s spectacular first all-electric vehicle,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief executive officer, Ted Lee.
The Ioniq 5 N is set to take part in a series of demonstration laps at the World Time Attack Challenge at the Sydney Motorsport Park on September 1 and 2 – piloted by none other than legendary Japanese drift king, Keiichi Tsuchiya.
