THE driver-centric Porsche Driver Experience cabin first used by the all-electric Taycan grand tourer is set to make its way into Porsche’s new Panamera.
Labelled as “innovative and intuitive” by its maker, the Porsche Driver Experience cabin is said to strike the perfect balance between analogue and digital elements, while simultaneously delivering a high-quality and extremely sporty interior ambience.
The high-tech cabin boasts a fully digital display Porsche says offers a wide range of customisable options and intuitive operation. Elements are grouped according to relevance, those most often used by the driver positioned closest to the steering wheel for “quick and intuitive access”.
Porsche says the layout aims to simplify operation of the new Panamera in all driving situations, and especially during dynamic driving.
That attention to the driver sees several details targeted for more immediate use. For example, a steering wheel mounted toggle switch allows direct control over the options provided by the instrument cluster, while another selects driving programs. The gear selector is located directly next to it.
As well as offering immediate access, Porsche says the design “opens up space on the centre console for an elegant climate control panel”. The unit combines touch and physical controls over the new, finless ventilation outlets and a range of preconfigured and customisable climate settings. A new console stowage bin also offers “more space than ever before”.
A new, free-standing, and curved digital instrument cluster measures 12.6 inches and is structured so as to offer driver information in three clear segments, echoing past analogue arrangements. The configurable arrangement is paired with an optional head-up display whose functions may again be controlled directly from the steering wheel.
Elsewhere in the cabin we find a “high quality and sporty ambience” Porsche says is designed to make an impression. A high-set central console extends into the control panel and across to the door cards, providing a sense of continuity. Ambient lighting is offered across the entire dashboard panel, emphasising the cabin’s width, even at night.
Porsche says it has also focused on making the Panamera more comfortable than before, improving seating foam and contouring to ensure passengers arrive “even more relaxed after long drives”.
New colour and material options are also available, including new bi-colour motifs, and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options. Leather-free, Race-Tex and Pepita fabric options are further available.
The new 2024 Porche Panamera will be revealed to the public on November 24.
