Discounted GWM Ora is cheapest EV in Oz
GWM is offering discounts on its budget-busting Ora electric hatch, the model now taking the title of Australian’s cheapest EV priced from $36,583* drive-away.
The offer sees a reduction of $4000 applied to the standard recommended retail price ($39,990) of the Chinese-made model and applies only to MY23 stock until March 31. All trim grades are eligible for the discount.
Initially priced at $44,490 drive-away, the GWM Ora was reduced to $39,990 in July 2023 when GWM Australia announced that recent decreases in battery technology costs had enabled it to pass on savings to its customers.
The deal continues to fan the flames of a price war between entry-grade EV importers Down Under, with BYD, GWM and MG all vying for the title of Australia’s cheapest electric vehicle.
BYD offers both its e6 (from $39,999) and Dolphin (from $38,890) at a similar price point to the GWM Ora, as does MG with its MG 4 (from $38,990) and ZS (from $40,990).
The plate clearance offer also applies to other models in the GWM range.
Discounts of between $2500 and $4000 are applied to the Cannon light commercial utility range (now from $34,990 drive-away), discounts of between $2000 and $3000 on Haval Jolion SUV models (now from $25,990 drive-away), and discounts of between $1500 and $2500 on Haval H6 and H6 GT SUV models (now from $31,990 drive-away).
