Ford Tourneo confirmed, priced for Australia

FORD Australia has this week confirmed the arrival of its Tourneo people mover for the local market, the Transit Custom-based family hauler to be offered in two trim grades priced from $65,990 plus on-road costs.

To be offered in Active (from $65,990 +ORC) and Titanium X (from $70,990 +ORC) variants, the Turkish-built Ford Tourneo will offer seating for up to eight occupants across a flexible track-based seating system Ford says allows owners to “completely customize the seating arrangement to best suit their own unique needs”.

Further, ISOFIX child seat anchorage points are available on both the second- and third row of seats.

The model will compete locally in the People Mover under $70K segment alongside the likes of the Hyundai Staria, Kia Carnival, LDV Mifa, and Volkswagen Multivan.

Ford says the Tourneo offers an expressive and sculptural design to appeal to family and business buyers alike, with a confident stance presenting a planted and stable appearance. The interior complements the outside with “stylish features and superior craftsmanship”, with both grades highly specified.

Riding on independent rear suspension, the Tourneo is said to provide SUV-like comfort and refinement, along with confidence-inspiring dynamics. The cab-forward design of the vehicle is also said to offer excellent vision of the road ahead, enhancing the “sense of control and confidence behind the ‘wheel”.

Both the Active and Titanium X grades of the Ford Tourneo are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine tuned to output 125kW and 390Nm. Both grades are front-wheel drive with an eight-speed automatic transmission fitted as standard. Ford rates the model range with a 2500kg braked towing capacity.

The feature list for both variants is strong with technology highlights including a landscape oriented 13.0-inch central infotainment array running Ford’s SYNC 4 operating system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charging, and a 5G modem.

From launch, equipment highlights of the Tourneo Active include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual powered side doors, LED lighting, heated front seats, keyless ignition, tri-zone climate control, and native sat-nav.

Stepping up to the Tourneo Titanium X we find premium alloy wheels (also 17 inches in diameter), a fixed-glass panoramic roof, Sensico artificial leather upholstery, power adjustable front seats, a B&O audio system and 360-degree camera system.

Paint colours include Frozen White (NCO) and cost-option hues Agate Black, Blue Metallic, Grey Matter, Magnetic, and Moondust Silver ($700) on both grades. Buyers of the Titanium X can further option Artisan Red (+$700) and 19-inch alloy wheels (+$1000).

On the safety front, both Tourneo grades are well equipped with adaptive cruise control, AEB with intersection assist, blind-spot monitoring and assist, front and rear acoustic parking sensors, lane keeping system, rear cross-traffic alert, a reversing camera, and six airbags.

Final specifications for the 2024 Ford Tourneo will be announced closer to the local launch.
