Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross gets MY24 update

MITSUBISHI Motors Australia Limited has announced minor specification and pricing adjustments for its Small segment SUV, the Eclipse Cross, in both petrol and plug-in hybrid form.

 

The range now begins $500 dearer than before at $31,990 plus on-road costs and continues to commence with the petrol-powered Eclipse Cross ES.

 

Importantly, the entry-level variant and its plug-in sibling add an acoustic windscreen, dusk-sensing headlights, an LED rear fog light, and rain-sensing wipers. The petrol variant further adds lane-departure warning.

 

The remainder of the Eclipse Cross is unchanged in terms of specification or equipment, but still receives a $500 price increase.

 

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross variants are offered in standard white paint as the default option with all other hues attracting an additional price premium.

 

Metallic paints – including Sterling Silver and Titanium – attract a $740 excess while pearlescent finishes – including Black, Lightning Blue, Red Diamond and White Diamond – add $940 to the sticker price.

 

Lightning Blue and Sterling Silver are not available in combination with the Eclipse Cross Black Edition.

 

Power for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross continues to come from the choice of a 110kW/250Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit or a 94kW/199Nm2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol with dual electric motors – the front making 60kW/137Nm and the rear 70kW/195Nm.

 

Petrol versions are offered in front- or all-wheel drive configuration with transmission duties falling to a continuously variable unit. PHEV versions are all-wheel drive only.

 

Mitsubishi quotes a combined cycle fuel economy number of 7.3 litres per 100km for front-wheel driven petrol variants and 7.7L/100km for the petrol AWD. Plug-in hybrid variants return a claimed 1.9L/100km on the ADR Combined cycle with an all-electric driving range of up to 55km (NEDC).

 

Due to its age, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is no longer rated by ANCAP. However, the model continues to offer a strong list of standard safety equipment including seven airbags, AEB with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.

 

On LS variants and above the safety kit list includes blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while Aspire variants and above gain adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera system.

 

As before the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross measures 4545mm in length, 1805mm in width, 1685mm in height and 2670mm between the axles. Cargo capacity differs between petrol and plug-in hybrid models owing to the installation of the latter’s lithium-ion battery pack.

 

Mitsubishi lists a 405-litre cargo space for the petrol range in five-seat mode and 359 litres for the PHEV.

 

Towing capacity is rated at 1600kg and 1500kg (braked) respectively for the petrol and plug-in hybrid range.

 

Irrespective of whether you choose a petrol or plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross you will find both offering a five-year/100,000km warranty extendable to 10 years/200,000km if servicing is carried out on time with a Mitsubishi dealership.

 

Capped-price servicing is available for 10 years and totals $4940 (+$200) for petrol powered models and $5940 for PHEVs. Service intervals are set at 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

 

The PHEV battery pack is warranted for eight years or 160,000km.
