MERCEDES-BENZ has announced pricing for its CLE-Class Cabriolet, the model combining attributes from the C-Class and E-Class convertibles into a $135,900 proposition in much the same way the CLE-Class Coupe did before it.

The single-specification CLE 300 4Matic Cabriolet asks an $11,000 premium over the Coupe version and offers seating for four in its folding-top cabin. The acoustically insulated convertible top may be opened or closed at speeds up to 60km/h, a process Mercedes-Benz says takes just 20 seconds.

Ideal for use in cooler weather, the Cabriolet offers Mercedes-Benz’s Airscarf warm air system for chilly necks, as well as an Aircap automatic wind deflector fitted above the windscreen.

Entry to the rear seats is made easier care of an Easy Entry system the German manufacturer says enables on-handed repositioning of the front seat. A seatbelt feeder aids buckling for front-seat passengers

In the rear, Mercedes-Benz says the CLE-Class is the largest convertible in the mid-size segment with 72mm more knee room and 19mm more shoulder room than the previous C-Class Cabriolet.

Further back, the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4Matic Cabriolet offers up to 295 litres of cargo accommodation with the roof retracted, or 50 litres more than the outgoing C-Class Cabriolet. A 60:40 split-fold rear seat further adds to the model’s practicality.

The CLE 300 4 Matic Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid assistance producing 190kW of power and 400Nm of torque – with an additional 17kW and 205Nm of electrified boost available under hard acceleration. The 0-100km/h standard is covered in a quoted 6.6 seconds.

Drive is to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment for the variant is much the same as that of its hard-top sibling including 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, AMG Line and Night styling packages, and lowered sport suspension (-15mm).

Inside, the CLE 300 4 Matic Cabriolet sports leather upholstery, the latest MBUX infotainment technology, an 11.9-inch infotainment screen with electric tilt function to reduce sun glare, an 12.3-inch digital instrument display, head-up display, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, active parking assist with 360-degree camera, and a 17-speaker Burmester audio system.

A comprehensive standard safety package includes 10 airbags, active lane keeping assist, active braking assist (AEB), adaptive cruise control, blind spot assist, and traffic sign recognition.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4 Matic Cabriolet is now available to order.
