Polestar 3 wins Australian Good Design Award

THE newly introduced Polestar 3 all-electric SUV has won a series of highly coveted design awards at the 2024 Australian Good Design Award for Excellence in Design and Innovation.

Polestar 3 won a Gold Award in the Product Design category, the Automotive Design Award – Best Exterior Design, and the 2024 Best in Class Award for the Automotive & Transport category at a gala event in Sydney on Friday night.

The judges lauded the Swedish-designed performance SUV as “a symbol of a new era in mobility, offering a sophisticated, sleek silhouette with a striking road presence”.

Rachel Wye, Managing Director of Good Design Australia, said the Polestar 3 won because it “redefines what an SUV can be in the electric age by blending sculpted clean surfacing, minimalist detailing, and optimised aerodynamics into a new, technical design language”.

“The Polestar 3 is an exemplary model of modern electric vehicle design, showcasing an ideal fusion of form and function.

“The jury was particularly impressed by the vehicle’s sophistication and quality execution. Its distinctive Scandi style commands attention, featuring a thoughtfully designed interior that enhances both modern technology and opulence.”

Polestar 3 exterior designer, Nahum Escobedo, said, “As a design-led brand, winning these awards means so much to Polestar and the design team who worked tirelessly on this project. From day one, our vision was to redefine what an SUV could be in this new era of electrification, e-mobility and sustainability”.

“Polestar 3 delivers a sophisticated on-road presence thanks to a more modern, technical design language with an aesthetic that is rooted in cutting-edge technology rather than historical automotive references,” he added.

“Our goal will always be to question automotive conventions so we can deliver beautiful, timeless designs that also focus on a more sustainable future.”

Managing director of Polestar Australia, Scott Maynard, said the award was recognition of Polestar’s commitment to innovative design.
